Hi, everyone! It has been an amazing year, and I wanted to share the story of why I decided to build a Book Box Company from scratch.
Reading and dark fiction books are my passion. I love getting a surprise package with a new book and some amazing goodies. However, I was always frustrated by the high prices and the lack of diversity in the genres.
Most of the book boxes I found online were either too expensive for me, or they didn't cater to my taste in dark fiction. Especially being Canadian, paying the exchange rate, duties and taxes made the boxes double the actual cost for everyone else.
I wanted to read books that were thrilling, sexy, and scary. I also wanted to support small businesses and artists who made unique and quality products.
That's when I decided to create my own book box company, Book Box Canada. I wanted to offer affordable and curated boxes that featured dark fiction books and items from indie makers and creators. I wanted to give people like me a chance to discover new authors and genres, and to enjoy some awesome treats along the way.
And that's how my book box company was born! Shadow and Spice by Book Box Canada is my Dark fiction book box for Canadian and USA readers!
The first year hasn't been without its hiccups, but I'm so proud of what I've achieved so far. I'm so grateful for all the support and feedback I've received from you, my amazing customers and friends. I have made some lifelong friends in this community. You are the reason why I do this, and why I love it so much.
